How our citation generator works
Pick a citation style, choose a source type (book, journal, or website) and fill in the required fields for each source. As you type, each field is validated in real time so you can't generate a malformed citation. When every source is valid, the formatted bibliography appears at the bottom of the tool, ready to copy, download, or share via permalink.
Unlike most free generators, we never store your data on a server. All formatting and validation runs in your browser, and the share link uses URL-encoded data so the recipient sees exactly the same sources you entered.
Supported citation styles in 2026
APA 7 is the dominant style in psychology, education, nursing, and most social sciences. MLA 9 is standard in literature and humanities. Chicago Notes-Bibliography is preferred in history and many graduate humanities programs. Harvard is the default in UK and Australian universities for business and the social sciences. OSCOLA is required for UK law schools and most legal journals.
If your professor specifies a slightly different variant (for example, APA 6 or Chicago Author-Date), use the closest match here and adjust manually, most differences are punctuation-level.
